What is the area around the Falls like? I’m assuming not as “flashy’ as Niagara (fireworks)

The city of Puerto Iguazu is quite small there is not a lot to see (went there 3 years ago), hotel are ok but not great. I remember an excellent pasta restaurant on one of the main street.
There are buses to go to the closest cities in Paraguay or Brazil (if you are a Us citizen you need a visa) which are less than an hour away, did not have time to go add Paraguay to the amount of countries I visited.
