Question Questions about working at VX, living in SFO

Thinking about a prospective management position at VX and I have a lot of questions/concerns...some big, some small. Here's my list:

    1. What are the health benefits like? Rough out of pocket for family of four on VX medical/dental/vision plans together? (Trying to estimate any kind of potential budget living in SFO!)

    2. What is VX's 401k matching, if at all?

    3. What are the offices like? Cafeteria? Gym? Other benefits (non flight related)?

    4. What are the flight benefits like? I understand it covers immediate family and is queued by date of service, but what about buddy passes? Rules about children in F class? What are the service charges, if any, for VX flights?

    5. What is a reasonable salary needed to survive in SFO? My husband's company may be willing to relocate, but looking at combined salary with 2 kids - what's survivable? More than survivable? We have low debt and would be happy with 1 car, but still...it is SFO!

    6. The culture seems awesome...very progressive and open to new ideas. Am I being seriously misled? I know EVERY company, airlines specifically, complain about management...but if anyone has experience at other carriers, what is VX like relative to say, legacy carriers like UA, US or AA?

Thanks in advance for any input!

San Francisco is a beautiful city, good public transportation and the weather is great, although as an Angeleno, I’d call SF’s weather temperamental (foggy & cold) - “cold” being a relative term of course *laughing*. There’s lots to do, especially outdoors year round and you have the Sierra Nevada-Yosemite and the wine country only a few hours away.
As far as culture, SF has world class museums, theater (OK its’ not Broadway), ballet and opera, BUT the cost of living in SF is astronomical. SF is extremely expensive!!!!!!
Most of the people I know up there live outside of SF, mostly in Burlingame and Daly City and those areas are pricey, checkout one of those cost of living/relocation calculators, and don’t forget to factor in we have a state income tax.
Lots to consider before moving to the golden state.

Remember, SFO isn't in San Francisco proper, it's in the city of Burlingame, I believe the BART train does go there, but it's not a great drive from San Francisco.
