Default Japan Airlines will start serving KFC fried chicken !!! Awesome!

Japan Airlines to serve KFC chicken on some flights
    November 28, 2012

Japan Airlines will start serving KFC fried chicken as a secondary meal on flights from Tokyo to the United States and Europe, CNBC reported.
The fast-food chicken brand – which is popular across Asia – will be served on flights from December through the end of February as part of a rotation in the catering program for the carrier, the story said. The meals will include a drumstick, boneless chicken breast, coleslaw, lettuce leaves and bread.
The KFC option will be the second meal offered on long-haul international flights for passengers traveling in premium economy and economy class from Tokyo's Narita Airport to New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, London, Paris and Frankfurt. The fast-food meals will be served in a special box and tray unavailable anywhere else but onboard Japan Airlines, the story said.

Oh yuk!! Smelly grease and chicken bits on the seats and floor--smeared tray tables and how 'bout finding bones in the seat pocket...what fresh horror is this?

Makes me think of that fine film, "Soul Plane". Pass the bucket!

Found this item on an email from Global Traveler:
Although Dec. 25 is not a national holiday in Japan, "Christmas Chicken" has become a widespread tradition. According to KFC, the custom took hold in 1970 when an ex-pat family complained to the KFC staff in Nagoya (the chain's first outlet in Japan) about how difficult it was to find turkey, perhaps the most iconic American holiday dish, in Japan. KFC marketing gurus seized the opportunity and launched Kurisumasu ni wa kentakkii! (Kentucky for Christmas!) in 1974, a promotional campaign featuring chicken and wine for 2,920 yen ($10). This year, the KFC's Christmas family meal - with a Japanese-style cake and champagne included - costs about 3,336 yen ($40). Some Japanese families order their KFC Christmas meals months in advance, while others wait outside KFC for as long as two hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
