    they DID it:

"Starting this week, all U.S., Australian or Canadian citizens arriving in Buenos Aires, Argentina, must pay a fee of up to $131 before entering the country.

The entry fee, which applies to revenue and nonrevenue passengers and all other pass riders as well, will be collected at the immigration desk upon arrival at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires. American citizens may pay in U.S. dollars, by credit card, or with travelers checks. The $131 amount is equivalent to the charge that Argentine citizens pay for a visa to enter the U.S.

Once paid, the fee permits multiple entries into Argentina for 10 years in accordance with U.S. visa reciprocity. The Argentine government previously has said it would drop the entry fee if the U.S. and other countries cancel their visa requirement for Argentine citizens."

Yea, glad I got there twice. If you have a new passport, and you plan to go at some point, it might be worth it to just spend the money awhile. I've got 7 years left on my passport, and I plan to go to Easter Island at some point within the next 7 years. SCL was wide open a few months ago, and I figured I can pay now, or in a few years, so that trip to SCL was expensive, but less I have to spend to go to Easter Island if I get there on this passport.

    I sure wish I would've went!

There are far too many destinations to choose from, without a fee, to justify paying it.

Anybody have any idea if that includes for layovers? I'd really like to see MVD sometime, and it seems like going through EZE is not uncommon.
