I'm travelling to Rio next week. I received my visa from the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles. I didn't have an itinerary but I had my pass request form on my Airline Letterhead. My visa is good for 10 years. For anyone in the US, interested in obtaining a visa for Brazil you can visit: Brazilian Visa - General Conditions

You paid a service to get your visa? How much? Which service? Are you talking company business/crew visa or tourist visa?
Do you have family in Brasil?

We are going to try and go in October for fall break and it looks like the rules have been relaxed.
According to the Chicago Consulate website, you do get a 10 year visa and US citizens no longer need to make the first trip within 90 days.

Well, we finally went and got our Brazil visas, and are going next week!

Pretty easy to do, but the Chicago consulate was very particular(think Seinfeld Soup Nazi) You must have it all correct, or "no soup for you, come back!"
I flew in and dropped our passports off with all the paper work on a Tuesday and had them back on Friday the same week.
    $160 and good 10 years.

Anybody needing info about getting a visa in Chicago, let me know and I will make sure you have it correct the first visit.

What's up AAMECH? It's good to see a tech on board here. Everyone working in the airlines cherishes a picture of themselves in the cockpit. But, there are those that have business in the cockpit like the pilots that fly them, and the technicians that work on them while on the ground. All the rest....well.....

    Just back from Rio.......LOVED it!
Look forward to going back to Brazil many times in the next 10 years.

Did SBN-DTW-GRU-SDU-GRU-DTW-IND. Got Biz Elite on the two long hauls. The GRU-SDU-GRU were on GOL and they treated us well. GOL is also a low ZED so very cheap!
