Wink nonreving on LAN from LIM to CUZ

Hi There! My husband and I would like to try to nonrev on LAN from Lima to Cuzco in late September. We have a confirmed flight back from Lima to Miami. Has anyone nonrevd on LAN between these routes around September? Do you think the flight loads will be full this time of year? Any feedback would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

We did that run from LIM to CUZCO and CUZCO to Lima in August of 2009. Not quite two years ago. There are plenty of flights and you should be able to get on one. And we took LAN. Beautiful trip over the Andes. I cant speak for late September, but I don't see any reason why it would be heavier than in August. You got lots of chances.

Have you priced internal Peru flights yet? You might be surprised. This year a record number of tourists have already visited Peru and the height of season hasn't even hit. I also read that they will be reducing the number of visitors allowed to visit MP in the future (how near I don't know) That said, there are lots of new properties being built in the Sacred Valley. Have you seen some of these?

Friends highly recommended Urubamba as a side trip, as well.

Machu Piccu was very congested when I went there. It's a packed joint. They need more control there. A bit dangerous driving from AGUAS CALIENTES to Machu Piccu by bus. One slip or slide and everyone on the bus is DEAD!

Hi there! Thanks for all the tips! I booked a hotel in Cuzco that got great ratings by others and they booked us a recommended hotel in Aguas Calientes. I did price flights between Lima and Cuzco and so far the cheapest I've seen is 241 R/T per person on Star Peru. We are trying to save some money by purchasing a ZED fare which for both my husband and i would be around 151..it would save us a bit if we can nonrev!

Yes I heard about the buses and roads... therefore we purchased train tickets on perurail.com! Its a bit pricier but i think its worth the safety and comfort! We will stay overnight so hopefully we can beat the crowds early morning!

I've got news for you. You must take a minivan, train and bus combination to get to ultimate destination of MP from Cuzco. Train doesn't do it all the way for you. Train doesn't begin from Cuzco. It begins in another town over higher elevation than in Cuzco. About a 30 minute or so drive to the train station, then like 4 hours to aguas calientes and then a stroll through the town to the buses, that is the dangerous part, from bus in ACalientes to top of MP. It's worth the risk I think.

You didnt save any more money buying on the internet the rail trip ticket. I bet you paid 96 bucks round trip per person.

Well thank goodness the hotel we booked also will transfer us to and from/ the train station from Cuzco for $5 each way and I was aware of the bus ride to Machu Picchu...I guess you need to be in line early morning to beat the crowd. Train tickets weren't cheap but I bought them online in case they sold out on seats It would have been a bummer to travel all that way and not see it! I would not have taken the bus from Cuzco!
