A man has been arrested after climbing a fence at PHX on Christmas Day and running toward a plane that had just landed.Police say 49-year-old Robert Edward Bump got onto the taxiway around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, ran to a Southwest Airlines plane and started hitting one of its engines.
Police spokesman Officer James Holmes says early Thursday that the pilot had been alerted of the man's presence and turned off the engines shortly before Bump reached the aircraft.
No injuries were reported, and Holmes says passengers were never in danger.
Holmes says Bump showed signs of drug and alcohol impairment and was booked on a misdemeanor of charge of entering a restricted area.
