Hi Nick. I've been a couple times now. If you don't mind spending lots of money, I always stay at the Sheraton CDG, which is built into the terminals and is up the escalator from the TGV and Metro rail lines. Two good benefits of staying there. Your view is the CDG ramp. The other is that when you are going to and returning from Le Bourget, the millions of people getting on the metro are going to and from Paris. To go back to the hotel, you are going opposite the flow of traffic. It's really expensive though. With my employee discount, I think the rooms are at 250 euro a night, so it's really expensive. Then again, they have a great buffet breakfast!
Nonreving isn't easy for this. I actually got a confirmed ticket for next year using some credit card FF miles. Flying Air France from Houston. But anyway, I have flown VS JFK-LHR then AF LHR CDG before to get there. Last time I flew CO EWR-BRS and bought a ticket on easyJet (like 50 bucks) BRS-CDG. FOr the return journey, the previous time, I got on a company plane (AA, and just squeezed into a business class CDG-BOS (probably the weakest loads for AA out of CDG)). Last time I flew BA to LHR and then caught a company vessel from LGW.
Also, this year I went to Farnborough and bought a deal on British Airways that included 2 night's hotel in Central London. So I seem to be wimping out and buying tickets as of late!
You have to be creative, but I've not missed Farnborough or Paris since 2005!
