Default Weight restricted out of LAX

Hey All, was wondering if anyone had any information on the flights from LAX or San Fran to Sydney AUS. They are often weight restricted and do not take standby travel. Has anyone experienced this first hand or know any details on days they do not weight restrict?
    Thanks all for the help!!

I did QF from LAX to SYD and had not trouble getting on the aircraft, they use the 380-800. I have heard that UAL out of LAX at times does take a weight penalty so it can be tricky getting on the flight.

They had an issue with weight restriction once out of NRT as I was trying to get back to Conus. But it had more to do with the unusual warm spell they had there, temperatures in the 90's causing them to weight restrict because of fuel. When its warm, the high temp and high humidity causes aircraft fuel to not burn as efficient and lean requiring more thrust for takeoff which means weight becomes more of an issue in the calculation. Another issue with weight restriction has to do with elevation. (Density altitude.) The higher you go in the air, the less dense the air is, the molecules are farther apart...never mind, read this. All should know this.

It's true for UA, especially in the winter. Twice I've had buds stuck trying to nonrev back to Oz and UA flights were wt limited, causing them to get stuck. Both times this was in Feb. of different years.

Thanks for the thoughts all, I was thinking it may be easier to leave from San Fran rather than LAX, hopefully the odds of weight restriction are lower???

    Default Perhaps SFO instead?

Thank you all for the input, big help! Does anyone know if SFO to SYD is any better?
