Hey hawaiiboardrider, we do get ID90s with NZ, but those can be pretty expensive compared to a ZED. You can view all agreements if you go to Skynet -> Travel -> Other Airline/Interline Travel (under Travel Programs) -> then view available interline agreements. Just keep in mind that the vast majority of airlines require 6 months of seniority, and it looks like NZ actually requires a year. We do get a typical ZED agreement with EK, though!

Most airlines you need to make a ticket request, which has a form linked on the Other Airline/Interline Travel page. Fill out the form, and wait 12-24 hours. For now, these requests are actually being done manually by an outsourced group. You'll get an email back with a confirmation number. Take that number back to the airport and ask to buy a paper zed ticket. Make absolutely sure that you have the one marked "Flight coupon" on top, it will be on a blue ticket stock card. This is your proof of payment, do not give it up until you get on that plane. Lose the card, lose the payment. The exceptions are Era Alaska, Hawaiian, Frontier, and Spirit. Those are electronically ticketed, link is on that page.

However, that paper ticket isn't enough. You also want to get a listing. On Condor, Finnair, JetBlue, Delta, and Lufthansa, there's a site where you can list electronically. Otherwise, you have to give the airline a call. They should be able to list you over the phone.

Once you have your ticket and confirmation number (NOT the one used to make the ticket request form) you should be good to go. Just show up, check in, and give them the paper ticket when asked (should be at boarding).

I'm actually working on the ZED fare process with United right now, though on the computer side of things. I've gotten to be pretty familiar with a lot of it, so if you have questions let me know.

Wow! Great information! Thank you So just to clarify- air new Zealand requires a year seniority to do zed and id90's? What was that other airline you mentioned? Seems a lot harder than I would have thought but I guess I'll get used to it and more familiar with the process as my career progresses.

I think that most drama has faded away, and is continuing to do so. I'm more concerned about what happens in the future than a bump in the road a mile back. No need to stop, back up, examine the bump, and then move forward again. Oh, and for what it's worth... Newton's 4th law states that if you have a forum that allows for unregistered people to post, people will eventually do it.

Anyway, to answer your question, most carriers use ZEDs, though a few use ID90s or maybe ID95s. There is no single carrier where you can get a "ZED or ID90..." they'll either go with one or the other. But yes, NZ requires a year of seniority, while every other airline I remember require 6 months. If you have access to SHARES, you can also enter GG PASS OA, with OA being the code for the other airline (ie, GG PASS NZ). If you don't, it's generally pretty much identical to what's on that other site I mentioned.

Other airline I mentioned... you mean EK? That's Emirates.

It may be a little complicated sounding at first, but once you do it once or twice it's pretty easy.

Ok wow. That kinda sucks. HAHA. I will probably be getting access to these intranet log-ins and whatnot in about a week or two but I'll ask anyway. What about HA? I know they have just started a Non Stop to Sydney. What is their required "time in service"? And how about JetStar?
Thank you very much for all this great information! Your help is greatly appreciated.

HBR--take a close look at your company nonrev page--I'm almost surprised how much stuff is on ours. You may have to do a few links, but there must be a page that shows the terms for each airline agreement. Stick around--most of us are harmless. LCC's [like Jetstar] don't typically show on any agreements. Once you get access, spend a little time looking at those zed/ID carriers and you'll get a ton of info crammed into your brain. Good luck retaining most of it!

Hmmm, not seeing anything for Jetstar. Hawaiian requires 6 months (I'd just assume that all airlines do at this point) but it does look like they have ZED Lows for all passengers in all cabins, including first, which is really nice.

You do know that UA flies to Australia, right? I know the loads can be bad, but even my old supervisor got F on a SYD-SFO flight one time, and she was flying at United Express priority!

Ahh. Wow that does seem good and alright. I suppose it makes sense that you have to put in a bit of time. We are getting some amazing benefits after all. And yeah, I know UA flies to Australia... Just looking at all my options thank you so much for all the great information! Reall appreciate it! And if anything else comes up, don't hesitate to let me know thanks again!

Ok, found one agreement that breaks the mold. After addiegirl's thread about Cape Air, I saw that they require a $25 flat service charge each way, and only need 3 months of service. Probably not what you're looking for, but hey... it exists.
