Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan a trip to Turkey from Nov 22nd-30th. I'm coming from the US. I know of the DL and TK nonstop flights out of JFK and ORD to IST. Does anyone have any idea about the load on those flights around those dates? I've heard those flights are usually quite full. I was also considering (the preferable/cheapest option actually) of flying my airline into MUC, FRA, or another city in Europe and catching TK or LH down to IST. Does anyone know how the LH or TK loads look MUC/IST on the 22nd and 30th returning?

Also, any recommendations on flights and/or what to do in Turkey would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to spend a few days in Istanbul then hop over to Cappadocia for a couple days (fly from IST to ASR on TK).

Thanks for your help!

Maybe you want to consider flying to Madrid and then catching Iberia or TK... same zed... I can check IB loads and all the details (how many non revenues...) for the day you want...
If you need any help, let me know.

Turkey in November??? I think that's called thanksgiving!

JFK-IST

Still a month out, but DL72 on 11/22 currently has more seats than the flight number.

Not so good for the flight back. DL73 on 11/30 is just barely in double digits, but will surely be sold out by then. 11/28 and 12/1 each have about thirty open.

Good luck, if you need any more specific info, just PM me. MRS767 is pretty good for checking DL loads as well.

Well, all this talk about Turkey in November got me in the mood. No, not for a drumstick, for a trip.

I had been trying to drag my mother to Europe for like a month now. I got the days off of work, as did she. We drove up to JFK on 10/7. After about the price of a r/t J ticket in tolls, and fighting NYC traffic, we made it to JFK(Next time we're ZEDing).

We cleared up front for the flight to IST. Dinner choices went quickly, and I was stuck with butternut squash raviolli. I really like the food on DL, especially the crabcakes I had to EZE, but this meal was a rare miss.

We spent 2 days in IST. The city is beautiful. We saw the Blue Mosque, the Haiga Sophia, Dolmabache Palace, and hopped a cab across the Bosphorus to Asia for the Anatollian Fortress(and to touch Asia)(I've now only got Australia left to get to this year to complete my goal of touching every continent(except Antarctica)). Had some great food and of course a few beers since I could over there(I've got three weeks left till I turn 21).

We again cleared for J from IST-JFK. The flights were both very nice, with very good cabin service. I'd heard it's very bumpy over the Atlantic this time of year, but I didn't notice a difference from any other flights.

IST was very nice and I heard alot of people talking about going to Cappadocia. I think it should be on everyones list.

Now C-19 (who's actually 20) you're not getting off that easy. Take us to Istanbul , the sound----the call to prayer. What was it like on the streets? The food---- did you try the turkish coffee, simit? Did you feed the pigeons? Photos? Details man, details.

How is DL with clearning nonrevs to business class? The return flight I'd like to take IST/JFK on 30NOV is overbooked in coach but has a number of business seats available. Would they put me up there?

And yes, I'm excited to go to Cappadocia. I've heard it's amazing!

I would not count on being upgraded. As a rule, international GA's are not permitted to clear OAL's for business. NW employees are the exception. The "auth to sell" numbers are still pretty high--there will likely be coach seats available.
