Hi Iwalani,
I live in Sydney. If you could let me know what parts of Australia you would like to visit and what you like doing on holidays eg bushwalking, museums, shopping etc I’ll try and help you further.
March/April is the start of our autumn and generally the weather is reasonable mild in Sydney. I’m not sure which states you want to visit and how long you have but March would probably be a better time in Sydney and NSW as the NSW Easter school holidays start from 9th April until 26th April so it can be a lot more crowded in town and during that time accommodation could be more expensive and it would be advisable to pre-book. Plus there are a few public holidays during the school holidays for Easter and Anzac Day.
In the city (Sydney) it is probably easier to get around by foot or public transport. Darling Harbour has a quite a few tourist attractions and museums and also around the Rocks area. There is a museum in one of the Harbour Bridge pylons and the Opera House has tours too, both of which are interesting. There are also numerous harbour cruises. Centrepoint Tower offers a great view of the city and suburbs.
I’d stay away from staying near Kings Cross/Darlinghurst/Newtown areas. If you wanted to save money you could possibly stay in the suburbs and travel into the city for the day which would probably be cheaper.
