Hello all. I am a frequent non rev-er and also a frequent rev pax with my job. You all have greatly helped me in the past in my fun trips around the globe.
I was stuck last week in the great storm in the NE and was stranded in NYC. I was on a full fare ticket and was re booked on the only flight that DL could get me out, which was a FC seat 3 days after my scheduled departure. Well... with the storm in ATL, that flight also got cancelled. I lucked out and got re booked onto a Thursday night add on flight. I had paid for the fare difference from the coach to FC seat when I was rebooked initially ($400, but didn't care, only seat for days). When I got re booked on Thursday, I was put in coach. No worries, happy to go home, but I was given a "Service Coupon" to use for a FC seat to be used within the next year instead of a refund.
Here's the rub- I was told by the LGA ticketing agent that gave me the coupon that I was to book the trip and then call reservations with the service coupon and have the FC seat reserved and then turn in the coupon at the airport.
I booked my next rev trip which is to LA (after looking at Deltanet and seeing there were plenty of FC seats). I called the medallion desk and they have no idea how to book this/reserve the seat. They said I had to go to the airport. I know that there will be no FC seat available by the time of my trip as the ATL-LAX seats usually sell (there are 10 now for a 3/8/10 flight).
Do I really need to drive to the airport to take care of this??? Seems like that should not be the case but should I bother to call again or bother to drive down to the airport?
