Default In and out? Five guys? How about the......

WHATABURGER? If you mention hamburgers, gotta include Whataburger in the conversation. Not a bad burger at all. Very well loaded with onions and the works. Started in 1950, very nostalgic probably hasn't changed much since 1950. Burgers, fries, shakes and breakfast. All over the south like in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and just about ten in every town in Texas. Here's a good pic of the original whataburger hamburger.

My 1st experience with Whataburger was in SAT on I37 going to CRP North Padre Island. The burgers were ok but the shakes amazing. Here are my top 5 Burgers:
AstroBurger - LA, Foster Freeze, In-N-Out, Smashburger, Carl's Jr (Hardees).

Speaking of Carl's Jr, they are opening up one right now down my street. It's gotta be within a week away from opening. Last time I tried them was in Fresno. I had that angus burger where I paid more for the burger than the original burger. The funny part about that was I first had them on United Nations BLVD in Manila P.I. This was back in 95. Is Carl's Jr. that good? I can't wait to when they open up to try it here. I like the....and not particularily in any order......

    Wendy's single
    McDeez quarter pounder with cheese
Whataburger all the way with extra onions
5 Guys lettuce pickle onions mustard
The BK whopper isn't bad either
At Mcdeez, I like to get the Mcdouble burger, two of them, take the patties out and bundle them to the other two paddies, and have four paddies in two buns. Only loaded with onions and pickles.
Fudruckers hamburger is very good too. Depends on the mood and proximity
Big Mac once in a blue moon it is very good.

Tony, you don't like pickles? I prefer the pickles on the side, whole pickle. I like to eat my sandwich, or burger, followed by a crunchy pickle in between bites. I prefer it that way than on the burger or sandwich itself. So you become an animal when you eat an in and out animal double? Never heard of sweet relish on a burger. Then again, here in Texas, they like to put AVOCADO on burgers, and some sandwiches in the Mexican joints. Jalepeno's too. The Jalepeno gives it a kick, but the Avocado does nothing for me.

In-N-Out is the best. I was in SoCal a few weeks ago and made sure to grab a few.....even left hotel early to grab one more at LAX before flying out.

Whataburger is fine, just not In-N-Out good. They do have good shakes though.

I was very turned off of Five Guys by the service I got at one in HPN......though I suppose I would probably be turned off of any restaurant I would go to in HPN..

Yes I went with Astro (Santa Monica BLVD/Gardner) first because In-N-Out is great but there fries are are too small. I love big fat fries with a Big fat double bacon avocado cheese burger. Honorable mention: Fatburger .

I would have to say for the best burger and fry combo, I would go with Smashburger, the smashfries have rosemary, olive oil and garlic on them. Number 2 I would say 5 guys, 3rd, Whataburger, honestly I like whataburger more for the cinnamon rolls than the burgers.
