Ah YES the "Islander" flights to Hawaii with 5 entrée selections in First and 3 in coach.
My favorite was "Pineapple Duck Peking".

Back in the mid 90's we even had the option to fly the Concorde on BA for a reduced rate, not cheap but not so expensive considering the real price and it was confirmed.
I believe that was on British Airways BA and the standby fare was $100 with a SA return on a BA 747.
If you got on going London getting back was not a problem.
Frightening NOISY takeoff; the fuel burn was the same as the 747; carrying 1/3 the passenger load.
Cruise altitude was 12 miles up (55000-60000 feet) speed twice the speed of sound.
While on temporary assignment at JFK saw it many times and wished I was on it - but not to be !

It wasn't that noisy from inside the cabin.
From about a mile or so from the beginning of the runway it was like 4 afterburners cutting in at the same time.
Visually static chunks of burning fuel propelling the aircraft on its way to flight.
Brought back memories of air operations at Ramstein AFB Germany in the early 60's !
