Screening is a joke in the name of airport security. Last Wed. at PBI (While wearing my airline id in full view) I was forced to put my wallet thru security. They were making everyone do this. Needless to say I was very upset knowing what I know about theft at security checkpoints. They also thought I was the shoe bomber & almost strip searched me and my 12year old son. In the mean time the real terrorist could be getting on these airplanes. Are there more stories out there? Also does anyone have the TSA number we can call to complain?

    Paul,

I understand and respect the need for additional airport security. And believe that they have a somewhat thankless job. However, I agree with you that there are total strangers walking onto planes while we employees who underwent federal background checks to get the ID that we are wearing are forced to go thru this additional screening. What it does is slow down the whole process and is potentially letting thru those that would do harm onboard.

We too have been put through extra security when my husbund has had his badge in plane view... but least we forget the bombers got a hold of uniforms and id. The system is in the mist of over haul . I too have been searched , had the contents of my purse dumped wallets opened been the shoe bomber . The worst is pwm the took bic lighters off us , went through newspapers page by page, pulled me to have a felmale search me ( my bra keep setting off the alarm( dam those under wires) searched me head to toe at the check point and then again before boarding. I guess since it was point of entry they are tighter. It is by no means uniform arcoss country and I want to belive it will get better in coming months so I just grin and bear it.

Why are you guys so naive. Just because you show an ID everyone should assume that it is valid?? You seem to assume that every screener can tell the difference between a valid ID and uniform and a fake one.. get real. Unless you are going via a secure channel you should be subject to the same checks as everyone else. I find it a pain being checked each time I go through security over here ( which has been stricter than the US for many years ) but accept the reasons for it.
Assumption and complacency are a terrorists best friend.

Most screeners here are to stupid to tell anything to be honest with you. They can hardly speak english. Most can not pass the tests. I am a former police officer with a degree in lawenforcement. I can tell you what I see & know here in the US is NOT security. It is 99% stupidity. The real terrorists are getting thru while a thief is stealing mine or some one elses wallet being put thru xray with no one watching.

    Paul,

I am at the security checkpoint in my city most days. All wallets are required to go through the X-ray. Hate to say it but they were doing their job.

There is always a Supervisor on duty at the checkpoint. I encourage anyone that has questions to ask to see the Supervisor.
This is the contact for the TSA: (866) 289-9673.

BTW my least favorite place to through the checkpoint is CLT. Last time I went through they opened and went through my carryon. But did it so slowly stopping to talk to anyone and everyone that it took around 10 minutes. I only carryon a briefcase.

Well the TSA has taken over here in CLT. You should see our tax dollars at waste. Again while flying out the other morning the TSA spent at least 10 minutes with me doing everything you can think of. Again I am wearing my airline id in FULL VIEW. I watch these people every day with people who fit no kind of profile & can hardly walk doing the same thing. The next wave of hijackers will get on while they are spending wasted time with airline employees. It is really sad....
