    Default Smart phone for Travelnet

In this day of doing everything on your phone, what are all of you using to make those last min load checks and itinerary changes? On my wife's current Blackberry it is impossible to get on Travelnet (DL). Her old one was better, but it was still a pain. I've heard the iPhone works the best and the HTC Tilt is OK. I'm wondering about the Droid, but would rather stay with At&T.

Kind of a Part 2; What about using a phone tethered to a laptop/netbook? I know with an iPhone you would need to "jailbreak" it. With a Droid there is an app for doing so. (I find it funny that the one thing I want an app for, there isn't one on phone that makes the biggest deal about apps.)

    TIA for any help.

    Jim.

The iPhone does have the best "web browsing" experience. I hate the virtual keyboard though. I really want some kind of hybrid. iPhone screen and web browser with a blackberry-like keyboard.

Two things your wife can try with her blackberry though:

    1) When viewing a web page, press the blackberry key ( just to the left of the scroll wheel ), and select "column mode". If that works better, there's a way to make it the default.

    2) Another idea is to try a different web browser. Opera Mini can be better than the built in browser: Opera Mini - Download: BlackBerry. There's also a new browser from bitstream.com called Bolt: http://www.boltbrowser.com/download.html

If you are in the US and have a Kindle, it can be done on its experimental web browser. That is quite limited in capability (no popups for standby lists, for example), and it is VEERRRRRYYY SSLLOOWWW, but it will work. Just be very patient and type slowly. And be sure you have no typos, as it takes forever to find out that you made a mistake.

On DLNet, Blackberry won't work...used to pre-merger but not now.
I use seatcounter and flightstats for loads if no free wi-fi..or call the non-rev number, which is very sensative...

Ah, she got that phone about the time of the change over and I just assumed it was the phone, not travel net.

I ended up with an iPhone. So far so good, I've already listed myself on a flight with it. I wish I would have had it when I was looking for options trying to get out of SJU, after the Valentine's Day snowstorm on the east coast.

Only thing you cant do is see how many other people are listed on it. Looks like DL doesn't support that on any mobile device. Only one I'm not sure about is the Droid-anyone here try it on a Droid?

Not that I would do such a thing  but jail brake it, tether it, and all can be seen on the netbook.

Glad to hear they are updating the system so an iPhone can be used...I got an iPhone 2yrs ago and up until I left Delta u couldn't sign into travelnet at all...I cornered an IT guy I knew and was quizing him about it and the issue with the iPhone was the Safari browser..
