    Default Nonrevving within Hawaii

Anyone have experience trying to nonrev within the state of Hawaii? ...more specifically in mid/late september? Would it be worth trying, or should we buy tickets? THanks for any input/advice you can share!

Non-reving inter-island is fairly easy since there are 5 different airlines (Hawaiian, go!mokulele, mokulele airlines, island air, and pacific wings) serving the islands. Hawaiian offers a $49.00 walk-up non-rev fare for any airline employee called the rainbow fare. Mokulele offers a $29.00 walk-up non-rev fare for any airline employee. go! mokulele also offers a non-rev fare which would have to be booked through their pass bureau or reservations. For island air and pacific wings they do not offer walk-up non rev fares, however you can use an ID90 on them.

Ticket prices inter-island have been pretty steady at about $59.00 one way. Since they are so many options it may be worth trying to non-rev. Being an airline employee in Hawaii, I have non-rev between the islands many many times, and I can not recall anytime that I was unable to get to where I wanted to go. If you need more info let me know! Good luck!

thanks for the great information. only reason i asked was because we will be trying to get straight from the mainland to maui, but just as a back up was curious as to how hard inter-island nonrevving can be, in case we have to fly to honolulu first. MAHALO and ALOHA!

    Just wondering how that works.

Do you just go up to the ticketing desk, show your crew badge and if they have a seat left on the next flight to the destination of your choice you get it for the price you mention?

What airlines are accepted? Also, is this limited to just the employee or also his partner?

Never heard of such a thing anywhere else, which is a pitty, because it is great!

Check your airline fares too. At Continental we had and inter Island agreement with Aloha and Hawaiian for $10. I think Island air was the same too. Then when they switched to ZED fares it went up to $25.

For both Hawaiian and Mokulele all you need to do is walk up to the ticketing desk with your crew/employee badge and request for the OAL non-rev fare (for HA it's called the rainbow fare).

This is limited to only the employee that is traveling and not their dependants.

I recently heard that Sun Country also has a walk up OAL non-rev fare for $50.00...

Yep, that's what we have at OO. Kinda nice, with them having a hub at MSP (about a 100 mile drive from me, 10 miles from my parents' house). The problem is, they have no service to Hawaii at all, just North America and STN (a weird-ass route with a stop in Gander, Canada). Nice Mexican and Caribbean routes in the winter, though
