From what I've heard from others, Asian, especially east Asian airlines and stations are notoriously difficult and unco-operative when it comes to handling ID, non-rev, staff travel, stand-by or whatever term you may use. And for them, regardless of the term used, you are non-existant in the hierarchy of passengers. Best option is to be always well-epuipped with a ticket clearly issued for the said carrier with a listing for the exact flight number and date. Oftentimes I get staff from these carriers flying non-rev on my airline in spite of their home carrier also servicing the route. When I ask them about this choice, what with a lower priority etc, their response is invariably that they receive fairer treatment as non-rev with the foreign carriers
