    Default PriorityPass airport lounge access

Just checking to see if anyone uses the PriorityPass to access airport lounges and if they have any issues because of flying standby.
Checking some lounges, mostly the accessible airline lounges, you need a same day confirmed ticket.
It would suck to get this pass and not be able to use it because of flying standby.
Wanting peoples opinion if they have/had this card.

I've had it for almost 5 yrs (part of Plat Amex card which also offers entry to SkyClubs). I've used it multiple times; w/wo Boss. Seat request never seems to be an issue. Last time we used it was CUN (BTW it's a lousy lounge but has improved recently). We each have a card. I think unless a lounge is really nice, it doesn't really pay to take a guest. Some lounges limit access when busy, but I've never encountered one.
    Edit:
I went back and found that I've been PP member for 6+ yrs. Who knew??

I am looking at the Chase Sapphire card as it has $300 credit towards airline fees and is PRIMARY insurance for rental cars. It has the Priority Pass but not other lounge access like the Platinum card. After the airline credit it would put it at $150 annually. It just hard to justify the card due to the annual fee. The Sapphire card also right now has a 100,000 airline miles if you sign up and spend $4000 in first 3 months.

I hear ya on the fees! We were already paying for SkyClubs, so it made more sense to get GE, $200 airline, PP and a few other goodies w/2 cards. We do it for our Christmas gift. The $50 fee for flts can be paid in that ailrine allowance if I forget to charge the buddies! Plus all the points that can convert to miles or hotels. Do whatever works best for you. PS--do they offer first year no charge?

No on the 1st year no charge. I just do not know if I want to play the mileage game. I like the Primary rental car part though. 1st year would really only cost me $50 due to the $300 airline credit and $100 towards G.E. as I do not have G.E. yet. Also, would be very hard to spend $4000 in 3 months for the miles.

How can you apply the airline credit to the card fee? We had to designate a carrier, then use it to charge anything we spent w/that carrier. Food/bev onboard, baggage or change fees, etc.

I know with the Platinum card we can apply the cost of annual Delta fee's. I am assuming, as I do not think you need to pick an airline with the Sapphire card, that I could pay my Delta and American annual fees, or if I fly united and pay for upgrade to 1st. I think if the charge is by an airline you get credit up to $300.

Sounds pretty good. We only get $200 and not applicable to top shelf bevs @ SkyClub. I'm not sure if we've used all of the allowance the past 2 yrs, even w/wine price @$8. I like that you can use yours for upgrades, too.

I am not sure if the Sapphire card works like the Platinum card or not. I know with the Platinum card you have to select an airline, then I believe you get credited for the 1st $200 you get charged by that airline.
If I had the Platinum and had United as the selected airline then the charge incurred to sit up front should be credited.
Again, not sure if the Sapphire credits ANY airline charges for the first $300 or if you need to select just one airline.
Even though I know the first year would basically be free after $300 credit, $100 towards G.E. and the Priority Pass (Standard Priority Pass annual fee is $99). Its hard to pay the annual fee.
Still trying to figure out if I can come up with $4000 in 3 months for the mileage, then maybe give it a try.

We seldom use cash locally. Groceries, gas, misc--on the card. All charities, clothing, haircuts, drycleaning, restaurants, any bills like utilities, phone, wifi, etc. That stuff adds up. All travel cost when possible (no INT fees--we have 2 cards for that use)--plus our tickets. We hardly use the Amex any more, except for the bennies. Still cheaper than SkyClub w/emp discount.
Hope it works for you. Good luck.
