    Default JFK transition time needed

One of the travel plans we're looking into for next Saturday includes flying standby domestically into JFK (through B6,DL or AA) and subsequently take a flight to Europe at 18h15. I'm wondering what is the latest that the domestic flight has to land in JFK to be able to check-in in time for the international flight, taking into account 2 little kids & a lot of luggage, including car seats etc.

AHA--LLO/4 OAL pax was your party!! DL flt 0329 is the last you you should take for us. The next one arrives 5:15 and God only knows when you get a gate on Sat 5pm.

Nope, still not the Lloyds ;-) I guess if we can get both standby flights into 1 reservation, the checked luggage is checked through to BRU but in case they are 2 seperate reservations, how long would one normally need to get from the plane, pick-up checked luggage and move to another terminal? I suppose 1 hour for all that is cutting it short?

LLO/4 must be another 4 OAL group. I make up names--LLO seemed right for Lloyd (and the name of my high school). Guess I'll have to refer to Mister DJ, party of 4.

Both flts on DL? DL in 2 Terminals, connected via jitney bus. MCO might be T4 and BRU could be T4--it's been a while since I've done BRU. I'm sure someone else can advise better, particularly w/kids and car seats etc. (that is something I never have done--must be tricky!)

If you're connecting on the same airline (i.e. Delta) and your bags are checked thru to your final destination, about 1 1/2 hours should be ok. As mrs767er said, the terminals can be quite a hike from each other but at least you won't have to go thru security. If connecting on different airlines, you will need to wait for car seat/stroller, claim bags, check in and clear security. You will also have to take the airtrain to connect terminals. I've waited over 30 min just to get bags on a domestic flight so 1 hour would not cut it. At the AA terminal, if you arrive at the high gates, it can take 15-20 min to get from gate to bag claim with kids in tow. That said, taking into account that often times the departure door is closed 15 min prior to departure, I would allow at least 2 1/2 - 3 hours for a connection. You could shave off 20 min or so if you have pre check but 615 is a peak travel time. Let me know if you have any other ?s about jfk. Good luck and safe travels!

Currently is looks like this it will 1st be a domestic flight (b6 or do, so terminal 5 or 2/4) followed by international sn Brussels flight (terminal 1). Haven't made the listing yet, but I presume it will go into 1 reservation. In that case no need for picking up any checked baggage I guess since that should be labeled through? Anyways, we will need to take the airtrain to the terminal 1. Take 20 minutes from gate to airtrain, another 20 to get to terminal 1, 30 minutes to go through carry-on control, so 1,5 hours would be absolute minimum. Of course, if it a separate reservation, then we'll need to take the earliest flight out of MCO just to be a bit relaxed at jfk (then again, leaving resort at 5 a.m. is not something I look forward with the transatlantic flight leaving at 6pm)

Even though you create 1 listing, check to make sure that the airlines you are taking have an interline baggage agreement. Especially since you are nonrev, the check in agent may not tag your bags all the way thru if it involves different airlines.

An option some of my friends use -hotel day rooms.

isppilot are there any hotels near JFK that offer that same day check-in/out service?

    Came up with www.hotelsbyday.com

I've stayed at the Hampton inn jfk not too familiar with the others. Another option is the airline lounges B6, DL & AA. Not sure about the lounges in T1.

Does the Hampton Inn an automatic cruising by shuttle? I prefer one of those than having to make a call instead.. Best case scenario we'll be at the hotel by noon and leaving at 3pm,so might be ideal for the 2-year old to get some sleep...

    2. Do you prefer time in the air or time on the ground?
