Hi Guys 'n' Gals!

Just wanted to say 'Hi!' to the gang! I work for BA at LHR as an Aircraft Load Controller, at the moment. If you're ever in London, or need London info, please feel free to give me a shout.

Hi Dave,

Welcome! Hello from the US east coast. I pretty much have enjoyed reading all the posts, and am happy for all the sharing of ideas. What perfect timing for you to post. We're trying to plan a quick London trip for the end of May. We've never been...Hotels are everywhere, and expensive! (of course the crazy exchange rate doesn't help) If you get a few minutes can you reply with ideas for lodging? Two adults and probably one or two older kids....

Thanks!
Ellen

Hi Ellen, boy have you struck the mother load. The Forum has a great London travel article, numerous London posts and a United Kingdom correspondent (Britski99) who's happy to answer questions. You have definately opened the right door.

Edited post- because I was unceremoniously bumped off the site while I was still typing
.... I almost lost a finger.

Hi Ellen,
Can you say what standard of hotel you are looking for as London has all from the Ritz to the flea pits!!
Also whereabouts in London are you intending to visit ?? Are you looking at the sights of Central London or do you also intend visiting places in Greater London ( or just outside ... e.g. Windsor Castle ).
A daily pass fro the underground only runs to about USD 13 so it may pay to stay outside of Central London and commute in to see the sights.

Welcome! Thanks for the info on the underground pricing since my son will be using it when he goes there in a couple of months.

By the way, does anyone know how long it takes to get from LHR to LGW by tube?

By tube it would take an infinite amount of time as the tube does not go to LGW.
The only options for transferring from LHR to LGW are:
- via coach ( about USD 40 ) taking 60-90 mins
- or via Central London. Take the tube into Central London and then normal train from Victoria to LGW.

No easy options I'm afreaid
