    Chris,
Stopped by Plains GA on our trip up north. Wondered if you have ever been there.
Jimmy Carters compound is bigger then the town. If you go the museum, at the high school will tell you when he will teach in the local church. The only problem is that Plains is in the middle of no-where. At 2 hours from ATL, doubt I would make a special trip.

Nope... never been to Plains. Sounds interesting. I have some family in Americus which I think is down that way. It's not in my list to visit. Though I respect President Carter, I've never been a big fan.

    Hi Chris!

My! Thanks for your friendly/open invite for questions! Here I go...

We two gals are in Hotlanta for only 2 days (I know, not enuf!) -- and you can liberally shovel whatever terrific ideas you have for us to get a nice whetting of an appetite for your city! Here are some of our thoughts:

We plan on covering the Foxhall Flower Show one morning. It's s'posed to snow again this week in Minnesota -- so if we intend to escape the oppression...!

What are the MUST SEES for history buffs on a tight schedule?

Also: we have up to $100/nite to blow on lodging. Do you mind sharing what properties are among your 4 or 5 star "faves" (to try and see if we can snare in a resulting Priceline bid)?

And: we are a couple of 40-ish gals who'd welcome sipping on mint juleps somewhere--perhaps with magnolias tantalizing our noses and/or whatever beautiful aesthetics available! Do you have any fave eateries? Outdoor dining/cocktails? Live music? Delightful bars/lounges (but no meat market action, plz!)

Thanks for any advice you can give, Chris!
    Like I said, "shovel away"!!!!

    Sincerely yours,
    SNNY in Minneapolis

My apologies. I assume you've completed your ATL trip by now. I saw your post and meant to come back to it and it totally slipped my mind.

Chris I know you're extremely busy down there in Atlanta, but you could have mentioned those new Delta planes flying out of Atlanta. Look like real people moooo-vers.

    Keep'em flying

Here's some good Atlanta/GA sites I came across recently:

    Atlanta travel portal:
    <a href="http://www.atlanta.net/" target="_blank">http://www.atlanta.net/</A>

Lookout Mountan Hang Gliding (North GA). Learn how. Ride tandem with a professional. They also have trikes:
    <a href="http://www.hanglide.com/" target="_blank">http://www.hanglide.com/</A>

Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad (North GA):
    <a href="http://www.brscenic.com/" target="_blank">http://www.brscenic.com/</A>

    Chris,
Is it possible that a 'posters' airline code could be added to the bottom 'info line' ( i.e. the one that contains Posts: 65 | From: USA | Registered: September 13, 2002 etc ). There are many occasions where advice about tickets/travel is solicited but the poster does not mention their airline and so you first of all have to find this out. If it was in the info bar then this would make things easier and more appropriate advice could be given.
    Cheers
    Paul

    Paul,

That's a great idea. I don't think that's a customizable option but I'll check into it and make sure.

    High Falls,

There is a nice state park about 30 miles or so south of Hartsfield ATL Intl Airport. You just take 75S and look for the brown state park signs. You'll pass Stockbridge and McDonough and a large Tanger Outlet mall. You'll see the signs a few exits past the mall. Go past the sign that says Indian Springs and exit for High Falls. Turn left and it's just a couple of miles down the road. On one side of the highway is a lake with some falls that go over a dam. On the other side of the highway are nature trails and a series of natural falls. The park has picnic grounds, a public pool and even boat rentals.

    For more information, go to:

Here's a shot of one of the natural falls I took:
