Hi. I actually resigned from Southwest about 2 months ago to go to lawschool. Due to some issues, it may be a good year before I get to start school. I had convinced myself that I wanted out of the airline industry, but I guess it's in my blood.
Delta had a job posting for immediate openings for Reservation Agents about a week ago. I e-mailed my resume. Now I see the posting is gone. I'm assuming they got the desired amount of resumes and will go through them. Any feedback on how long their screening/hiring process is, and any feedback on what it's like to work for Delta, advancement opportunities, etc.. is greatly appreciated. I'm dreading the question of "Why did you leave Southwest". However, I always wanted to work for a big international airline.

Great company to work for even with our financial situation, and RES is a great place to start. Any call center job requires that you're ok with sales observations, some which you know about, some which you don't, but if you don't mind the restrictions of sitting down at a computer and talking to customers all day, with lots of stats on your performance, it's a great job. Good luck.

You didnt say in your post, is this job full time or is it part time & maybe even part-time temporary ?
I worked for Delta in res in Miami from 1984-1985, my position was part-time temporary. I left because of that fact only to go tp Piedmont now USAIRWAYS where I still am. As far as working for Delta it was probably the best job I ever had. Like the other poster said there are lots of stats & we were monitored quite abit. Had it not been for the part time temp. thing I would still be there loving it.
Best of luck & welcome to our board.....

Thanks for your feedback! What do you do for Delta? I've done reservations before and actually enjoyed it, so the structure of the job is fine with me. Do you know how long their hiring process is? The ad said "immediate oppurtunities" and was posted for all res centers. The ad was only up for aobut four days. I e-mailed my resume in time luckily. That was about almost two weeks ago.

A bulletin about the hiring was issued on 5/23. There's not been anything issued since that time. I don't know how long the process takes. I'll come back and post again if I hear anything.

I applied for the DFW call center when the postings were on Delta.com. Even though the jobs were posted in June they did not get permission to hire externally until the 1st week of July. For the DFW Res Office they had 180 applicants and 50 positions open. I interviewed on Tues 8Jul and was offered a position on Friday. They have posted on delta.com again since the 1st posting and are still posted internally. If you have not heard anything yet you should hear something soon.
