Wow, the classic 'taking my toys and going home' maneuver and I'm off on vacation. Just wondering if there's any chance of seeing a repeat????

Since no one else has anwsered these riddles here I go:
Three men (nonrevs) go to spend the night at a hotel. They pay for a $30 room, each giving $10 for their share. When they go to their room, the manager realizes that he forgot to give the men the airline rate of $25, so he gives $5 to the bellman to return to the men. The bellman goes to give back the $5 and when he does, the men take it, but give the bellmen $2 as a tip, thereby keeping $1 each for themselves. However, one of the men (we'll call him Al ) is distrurbed remarking. "Hey, we each spent $9 dollars for the room, since we got a $1 back, which totals $27 right? Plus the $2 we gave the bellman, that's only $29! Where's the extra dollar???"
Can you solve the riddle for Al?
This is best done as a math problem -
25.00 room charge
3.00 change (1.00 per man)
2.00 tip for the bellman
------
30.00 total
Therefore there was not a missing dollar.
There are three light bulbs in a room, and three light switches outside the room. You are outside and want to match which switch goes with which light bulb. You can only travel into the room once, and cannot come back in again. You can do anything you want upon entering the room. How can you set the situation so that you will know which switch goes with which light bulb?
This is also easy. All you have to do is turn the first switch on leave it on for 10 or more minutes. Turn it off. Then turn the second switch on, leave it on. Go in the room. The first switch will belong to the hot off light bulb. The second to the on light bulb. And the third to the cool off light bulb. All you have to do is touch both off light bulbs.
I do love my logic problems....
Congratulations Coyne, your logic is flawless.

Still more riddles
One airplane is flying in front of two airplanes, another airplane is flying behind two airplanes, and another airplane is flying between two airplanes. How many airplanes are there?
A 10 foot rope ladder whose rungs are one foot wide is hanging over the side of a boat. At this time there is only 1 foot of ladder under the water. It now begins to rain heavily, if it rains at the rate of 1 foot every two hours, how many hours will it take to cover half of the ladder?
Have fun

Unless the boat has a big hole in it, the ladder should still only 1 foot under the water even if the boat belonged to Noah and it had rained for 40 days.
Not neccessarily true for the ladder. If it rains hard enough the boat fills with water and then sinks .. in which case not only is half the ladder under water but all of it is!! Unless of course thoe boat does have a hole in it and then the rain water escapes from inside the boat and the boat stays afloat.
P.S. Noah's boat probably only stayed afloat 'cos the animals drank all the rain water
Congratulations Coyne, well done.

A riddle that's a little more difficult.
The Jugs of water
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
You've got a 5-liter container and a 3-liter container
you've got a pool of water
How do you come up with exactly 4 liters of water?????[/list]
NO Paul you cannot pour some water into the 5-liter container and then guess. Nor can you fill each bottle up half way or something.
You must be exact!
Have fun

Thats too easy ... fill both jugs .. freeze the water in them and then cut the ice blocks in half down the middle !!!
