Default and we're just happy to get a seat...

Qantas flight delayed after passengers go bananas over pyjamas | News.com.au

I wonder if the captain dissolved into fits of laughter after making the announcement?
Good that he made up the time.

Well, its like any customer that isn't satisfied. You pay good money for a steak, it comes back with blood on it after you told them WELL DONE. You pay huge bucks to ride in first class, suddenly, they give you pajamas that is flown by buisness class, when you paid the money for FIRST and that kind of sux doesn't it? How would you like to pay huge bucks in first class, but there isn't enough first class food and suddenly they bring you a coach meal for you and your wife. As a nonrev pax, I could care less if they put us in the cargo pit with a pack of peanuts, but that isn't the case here. I don't think it was hilarious. They probably paid the huge bux to ride comfortably all the way to Melbourne, thinking they would be accomodated all the way. They may have had those pajamas in mind too. First class treatment for them fell short. Is it the fact that they wanted XL pajamas that is hilarious? Would this not have been as funny if they wanted MEDIUM? It's the airlines fault here. If you charge that kind of fare to ride in the front, it needs to be right. All I see here is a couple of passengers excercising their rights as consumers. Good for them. Too bad it had to involve making others wait as they unloaded their cargo but that's on the airlines.

Are you kidding me? 2 Pax who might have paid less than 5% of the entire aircraft pax fares can dictate that the captain has to return them to the gate--along with 350 passengers?? ...because the PJs were not adequate. How arrogant is that?

It isn't like it was a gate return from what I'm reading. They apparantly didn't want to fly over the pajama issue, so the delay was in getting out their luggage. ("The couple, both Australians, complained to Qantas flight crew as the plane was preparing to taxi from the terminal".) What does this statement mean to you? Preparing to taxi from the terminal? Did they even push back?
It is kind of surprising. Usually the pilots or f/a's would twist it by calling the cops to meet you on the plane for creating a stir like they do here in the states, where consumers have just about zero rights when it comes to flying.
Sorry, I'm for the arrogant bastahds of Australia on this one.

On the surface, it does seem sort of pathetic. BUT....they paid whatever they paid for the privilege of flying in First Class and their expectations were not met even before they left the ground. I'm a big fan of "I want what I paid for, and everything that goes with it." I don't mind paying whatever for something, but I want what I paid for.

So gotta agree with 29 on this one.
