National AMT Day
Aviation Maintenance Technician Day
“May 24, a day “to honor the professional men and women who ensure the safety and security of our airborne aviation infrastructure, and recognize the life and memory of Charles E. Taylor, the aviation maintenance technician who built and maintained the engine that was used to power the Wright brothers first controlled flying machine on December 17, 1903.”
--US House of Representatives - April 30, 2008
The Wright brothers made a glider, but Charles Taylor made the glider an airplane.
You might be an aircraft mechanic if…..
Your toolbox at home has wheels.
You have little yellow ear plugs all over your house.
You’ve been crouched down fixing a seat only to glance up and see pax boarding the aircraft.
You’ve “scuba dived” a lav tank to remove everything under the sun.
You know what skydrol tastes like.
And finally you might be a mechanic if you have a mini Maglite, a Leatherman on your belt, a toolbox covered with stickers and talk enthusiastically about aviation.
Keep’em flying
