Personal ride service Uber and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority have settled their rift over fees charged per pickup at the Jacksonville International Airport.

Uber officials this week challenged a proposed $3.25 fee for their drivers each time they picked up a customer at the airline hub. JAX officials said if Uber and other personal ride services such as Lyft didn’t pay the fee, their services would be prohibited from operating at the airport as of Monday.

Friday both sides agreed to settle the rift by Uber agreeing to pay $2.50 per pickup until Sept. 1. After that, ride services will pay $3.25 as originally proposed.

A big sticking point for Uber officials wasn’t the amount of the fee. Rather company officials complained they were being charged more than taxi cab services that were paying only $2.50 per pickup at the airport.

But JAA officials settled the dispute by charging all services the same.
“The airport has agreed to consistency across the board in regards to pickup fees,” said Javi Correoso in a prepared email statement Friday.

All fees for personal ride services and taxis will be raised to $3.25 as of Sept. 1.
“There will be no disruption in service for Uber users,” said Michael Stewart, JAA director of external affairs. “The contract should be signed and executed within a week.”
