Huh, intriguing! If I remember correctly, there are no other commercial airports in DE, so F9 will be the first! I remember a relative asking if I was going to fly to all 50 states, but I didn't think it was even possible assuming I was right about that. Maybe Cape Air has service to BOS or something from a different city.
I've driven by Willmington DE several times on the East Coast, going to and coming from........for many years off and on........ Definately not very impressive city. Could be a good backup for DCA/BWI or PHILLY in case something goes down to those going south. I've known very few people from Wilmington DE in my lifetime. No reason to go there except maybe DUPONT. BANKING.
Um, watch it now. I'm from the lovely State of Delaware, so now you 'know' another. It was a great place to grow up (lower, slower Delaware)
Oh, and ASA used to fly to ILG (very confusing as ILM is the 'other Wilmington). Its a great little airport. The ASA flight was sort of like private jet service (very limited staff and you'll see them through the whole process, and treated everyone like a VIP). Sounds like F9 will be a bigger operation.
ILG is hands down a winner over PHL- I'd say it's 25 minutes from PHL, but haven't driven it in years so not positive. My parents raved about the service provided by the workers at ILG. 29- I'm biased, but Delaware has great beaches (one hour from ILG) and tax-free shopping. Great state parks too. Winterthur is a destination for 'Upper Delaware' too.
And of course, there is RODNEY CEAZAR and his famous ride to Philadelphia.
Update...RSW from ILG starting 11/16/13.
