For the most part, it is true that rain in Central America last only a short while, unlike in the states where it may rain straight as in Houston here for a couple of days straight. But the last time I went to Costa Rica, it was pretty rainy and lousy for most after 3 PM on through the night. San Jose seems to get alot of rain, moresoe than on the coast or at sea level. When you hit altitude, all bets are off. I suppose it depends on the years too. San Jose is jacket weather and rain gear. Need umbrellas there walking around and most everyone carries one. In Panama city, the rain drops are warm and noone carries umbrellas nor wears jackets or rain gear. When it rains in San Jose CR, its chilly and overcast. It gets down in the 50's at night, and day time temps are quite pleasant and sunny. PTY is warm constantly, never dropping below 75 year around. They get hellacious blast of heavy tropical downpours but usually last a short time.
