    Folks :

Was planning a week in the carribean starting 8 Nov.
Jumping around various resorts and comparing these to the weather for the next 10 days, I'm hard fetched to find anywhere in that area
    where rain is not predicted.

I don't want to travel for almost 2 days and spend a fortune on a resort to be rained out, so started looking towards central America .... rain predicted there too ..
still, saw the new Breezes advertised with an excellent rate on Dargal and wondered if anyone has been ????

We don't serve PTY, so would be using CO ... although their flights are zeroed out in our system ..... anyway, if anyone has been OR if someone has any
recommendations for PLS, SXM or TOV, would appreciate those too .....
The big resorts all seem quite expensive, condos mean cooking & that ain't a holiday and fear those are not cheap places for eating out !

    Thanks ....

Did you look up rates thru our accor or hilton discounts?? Also he interline hotel discounts might come in handy for last minute deals. Good luck Mr!

do you ever use interlinetravel.com? they charge no fees unless within a certain time frame and have a great list of contracted resorts.
you've chosen some of the MOST expensive islands in the carib
    do you have other options?
keep in mind when it says rain in CR, it's frequently 1-2 hrs in the afternoon or eve
same with other Central Am locations.
check with tripadvisor locals etc--hope you aren't forecasts from weather.com--BUNK

For the most part, it is true that rain in Central America last only a short while, unlike in the states where it may rain straight as in Houston here for a couple of days straight. But the last time I went to Costa Rica, it was pretty rainy and lousy for most after 3 PM on through the night. San Jose seems to get alot of rain, moresoe than on the coast or at sea level. When you hit altitude, all bets are off. I suppose it depends on the years too. San Jose is jacket weather and rain gear. Need umbrellas there walking around and most everyone carries one. In Panama city, the rain drops are warm and noone carries umbrellas nor wears jackets or rain gear. When it rains in San Jose CR, its chilly and overcast. It gets down in the 50's at night, and day time temps are quite pleasant and sunny. PTY is warm constantly, never dropping below 75 year around. They get hellacious blast of heavy tropical downpours but usually last a short time.

Palms--I'm pretty sure the OP intended to go to an All-Inclusive--like the ones Guanacaste/Pacific coastal areas, so most of CR's iffy weather is elsewhere.
    Except--RAINY season!

The best ones at LIR are oCC Grand Papagayo (not the reg one) or Paradisus--there's a new one (Hilton/Hyatt??) but no info.

Sounds to me like white sandy beaches are in order anyway--so the "affordable" fine resorts are gonna be DR or Riv Maya--best bang for the dollar (or Euro!)
Riv Maya--fly CUN, turn right...HEAD past Playa del Carmen. (valentin imperial is highly regarded)
DR--pick an airport--any airport--and drive or get transfers. You'll find 5 star stuff at all the major beaches.

    Thanks all.

Accor and Hilton do not offer AI. Those are room only and the option for breakfast at ACCOR.
Have a site address for Starwood, but their rates are always far more expensive than any * normal * booking engine.

I shall never plan vacation for this time of the year again.
The far East still has rain, the caribbean , Central America ....... I need that sun.

It was a toss between poor man's Dubai = Sharm El Sheik or U.A.E.
U.A.E. I stopped going to when those Jumeirah Beach hotels started charging approx £100 a night.
I think back to the times when I availed of Touchdown selling those beach hotels for £89 for 3 nights with breakfast.
I'm heading to Fujairah this time, the only Emirate I haven't been to and looks dead as a dodo - but no rain - Yipeeeee!

Apart from the Hilton and Accor, I use Dargal, Touchdown and Travelindustryservices. JSInterline whilst limited, usually works out cheapest.

That AI rate in Panama does look good, but 5.5 hours I'm in U.A.E ... Panama would be 2 days involving an overnight and 3 flights
