    Default Non Rev on United

    Hello,
I'm Southwest airline employees and new to this form.I'm planning to travel to SJO(COSTA RICA) from DFW .While going flight is pretty much open on March 13th.Coming back on March 17th and i see seats available only in "Economy Plus".Will united allow non rev passengers from other airline to get in to Economy plus?.

    Please advise.

    Thank You

Humm. Interesting question. I just had a Jet Blue FA sit next to me(DL) from ATL-IND last week in Economy Plus. So what's the policy UA? Will u upgrade me on my IAH-POS flight?

Yep, NRSA can go into Economy Plus with no rule breaking, assuming it's available (duh!) and the gate agent is nice enough to think about it (sometimes they go with the default seat assignment, which may or may not be E+). If you ask really nicely, they may reassign you if you don't get it the first time.

Where were you getting your load information? Seat map on united.com? If so, don't. Those are not reliable, as they leave seats open on there when it could simply be a matter of a passenger having a flight booked without a seat assignment. An hour or two before departure those are a little more reliable, though.

I can tell you that UA1098 and UA1055 on your outbound look great, the other two are a little more iffy (but not impossible). Return flights those days are booked evenly AT BEST.

Thank you very much for your response. This will help us make a decision on whether to go or not.I was looking at seatmap on united website...looks like return flights are booked. But they some seats available in economy plus...don'y whether United crew will allow other airline employees to travel in economy plus class when economy is full.Don't want to get in Costa Rica for more days as my son school starts on Monday.

I don't know that either. I do know that I've made nothing less than ECONOMY PLUS on my trip to and from the Pacific region recently. I've had two first class legs only. From HNL-GUM and GUM-NRT. Got lucky on economy plus with me and wife, lady got upgraded to first so it freed up space for us on a NRT-SFO trip. That really helped alot. Any extra room adds up. The only advantage I see with Econo-plus seats is a bit more leg room, but not by a whole bunch. Nothing grows to your left and to your right. I would say its better than regular coach but nothing to get excited about if you weigh say more than 220 pounds and taller than 5'10. feet.. Best case scenario is an exit row seat which I got from GUM-MNL with an empty seat in the middle or better yet, you got the whole row to yourself. I got the exit row but it was all seats full, and me and a heavy set lady from RENO. Very cool lady on business there in Manila. I was filling her in so that she wouldn't freak upon landing in Manila.

sreelakki, trust me on this. We're happy to give you flight loads around here so you know what's worth trying for, what isn't, and what you may get on with a little luck. If you must get on, don't try for UA returning. Seat maps are NOT an accurate way to look at a flight. It may be ok (still not great on some routes) to see a seat map looks full and rule it out, but NEVER go somewhere because "the seat map looks open." It will bite you in the butt eventually.

No rental cars in Manila? I really don't know that one either because, you are a fool to drive in Manila in the first place.......believe me. I never had that issue because, I either take a cab or my bro in law takes me around in his jeep. That lady was some boss lady coming from Reno to straighten out the Manila office, so she had someone pick her up. No need to rent a vehicle for her. It's crazy driving in Manila. Takes hours at times just because of traffic alone. Leave the driving for the cabbies.
I gave up a long time ago on checking flights with looking at the apps and checking seat maps, I have enough hard time trying to figure out if I'll be riding up front or not. Put it this way. SFO flight yesterday had 77 seats open, and I didn't make it up front. Whereas much less than that flying from GUM-NRT and I get first class.....so what gives? Just glad to get on board for nothing.
