Default Bag Fees Going up on AS

Alaska Airlines is raising its fee for checking a suitcase to $25, bringing it in line with most major airlines.
For tickets purchased on or after Oct. 30, the Seattle-based airline will charge passengers $25 each for the first and second checked bags. Additional bags will cost $75. Alaska currently charges $20 per bag for the first three suitcases.
The airline will keep its unique baggage service guarantee. If a passenger's bags are not at the baggage claim area within 20 minutes of the plane parking at the gate, Alaska will give them a $20 discount code for use on a future flight or 2,000 bonus frequent flier miles. The discount will increase to $25 and the miles to 2,500 on Oct. 30.

And we rarely have to give out those miles/discount codes because the bags do come out within 20 minutes of the opening of the cabin door. There are other changes coming in terms of fees but we are going to be rolling them out later. Nonrevs will still be allowed to check 2 bags up to 50lbs free.

We haven't checked any bags except overloaded flights on DL and a few on zeds over several years. The nonrev baggage fees are always generous. That's a pretty nice time policy, MrsD. It takes almost 20 minutes just to walk SEA from TSA to A gates to the train for S gates!! I wonder if AS will take me on their magic bag carts and drop me at DL? My rollerbag arm doesn't like that stroll one bit.
It's rare to read major "complaints" about anything nonrev! Boss always says, and when was the last time we had to buy regular tickets? We may all gripe about petty stuff, like crappy middle seats in the back of a 737, gate anxiety or BP (not buddy passes or the oil co!). Considering the price of a RT to Shanghai or Beijing ($31) Valencia ($17) Japan ($34) and a whopping $37 for Cozumel...I think our whines would be moot! How cool is it to buy a zed for $70 to fly a few hours from SIN to Bali? Or $120 JNB to DXB to catch a $20 biz flatbed on DL? Worth every penny (yes, it was a horrible flight on EK, but it's all over but the bad memories)
Maybe I should have started a new thread (Mig?) about nonrev appreciation or the mishaps and pains that come with it?
