When you look at the non rev list leaving GUM to HNL, you will want to cry. Most of the time, they are packed tight with a long non-rev listing. True it may depend on the months or times you travel, but for the most part, its a teeth pulling way to go. Especially for other airline folks. Also, leaving HNL to Conus can be tight too. Sometimes even tighter than GUM/HNL. Truthfully, for you, I'd go to Japan however way you can and then try JAL to Gum. I've done those routes many more times than I'd like but I find the best way for me to go is via NRT with CO since its a straight shot from IAH where I work. Then I fly AIR MICRONESIA to GUM. Much easier. I avoid HNL like the plague. I did come back through that way last time only because MNL to NRT was overbooked and had no choice, and barely made it out of GUM and HNL by like a seat or two. You may get to HNL and find you get stuck there for a long time. Or GUM and get stuck there for a long time. Kind of risky. It's a tough commodity there for non-revs even working FOR the airlines. I'ts like trying to get to DENVER as a non-rev. Packed to the rafters 90 percent of the time or more. The ISLAND HOPPER as the TWIG mentions is good if you want to experience the backwoods of the pacific islands but to get to HNL is really not the way to do it. How would you like to get stranded on CHUUK because of weight limitations from hauling back a bunch of fish? I worked for Air Micronesia so I know all about it.
