Wow, some excellent reviews here. I never heard of Astro burger, nor smashburger, never tried in and out burger, so I know nothing of these. With or without cheese. The description of the fries with the garlic and olive oil sounds interesting. I've seen YUCA fries in Miami served this way, more with the garlic though, Cuban style I guess. If you ever tried a YUCA fries, you would bypass the french fries guaranteed. Those are popular mostly in Central America. You can get them at Mcdonalds there with the yuca in place of fries. Also TOSTONES or PATACONES which is fried plantain.
Ok so Carls Junior is opening up soon near my pad. Can anyone here guide me to their burger, or which of the burgers I should try? Here is a burger calculator to give you some idea

Wow, thanks for that tip. I just learned that they do have a SMASHBURGER in my area, in fact, several. Not very close but manageable. I was browsing through the burger section and they look pretty stacked. I see those fries sprinkled with the garlic too in the picture. I guess I'll have to give it a shot when I'm off sometime. In fact, I think I may have seen them by the sign before, but never paid them any mind. It's not like I go driving around to find the ultimate burger joint. I had mentioned PRINCES hamburgers before on here, a local chain in the IAH area. I hear they used to be real big back in the day, but they've simmered down to around only like 4 around. Very cool place indeed. Very nostolgic. Has anyone tried JOHNNY ROCKETS? How about RED ROBIN?

Nope, I hate dill pickles on sammiches lol. I do however, love sweet pickles and relish on them.

You also mentioned Johnny Rockets...I worked there while I was in A&P school!! Another excellent burger, much more 5 Guys style than In N Out. Make a trip to somewhere that has an In N Out, you won't be disappointed, methinks!

Tony, I have a feeling that you've been to In-N-Out at least 4 times a week since you moved to SFO :P

I don't know if there is a In-N-Out in SFO. OAK or SJC maybe. But, SFO has a Mel's Drive-in that has fantastic burgers on Lombard. Melsdrive-in.com.

There's an In N Out a 5 minute taxi hop away from SFO, in Millbrae. Or just hop on BART, it's the Millbrae station and right across the street!

I actually can't eat there that often, much as I would like to. Since my wt loss surgery, I just can't tolerate bread. I make a monthly exception for In N Out tho...:P

I know exactly where that joint is. I've seen it when I was in SFO last time I went and stayed in Burlingame. I saw it but never attempted to check them out. Fumble.

Oh yeah, there's an In-N-Out on Fisherman's wharf- always a line, not that I'm getting a burger if I'm down there. I'm eating at Guardino's- a crab sandwich or clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, very good, so good in fact, you don't mind the long line and the seagulls.
