Never doubt ATL. We rely on misconnects (especially the ones who get stuck in the security line and get off on the wrong concourse). Besides, the hotels in ATL are half the price of JFK/LGA if the flight is oversold.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I am just a little bit paranoid as this is my first international trip non- reving. I just wanted to hear others' with past experience chip in. I will be meeting my brother (who paid full fare) and I just want everything to go as smoothly as possible, which I know doesn't always happen when you are flying standby! If anyone has any other helpful hints or tips, that would be great!

I have a little different take on ATL...being retired with a low priority, I avoid it like the plague....even without considering I was on the Hilton Shuttle bus crash in May and spent four days in the hospital from hell in Atlanta.. :-) Going to LHR, look at MSP and DTW...way less non revs in my opinion. My two cents...
