    Cool Barcelona

Alright Spain aficionados, is anyone familiar with Sitges? A group of us planning a trip in October for the film festive. All I know about it is, that it’s located just outside of Barcelona, there are beaches, and people keep describing it as “quaint”.
So the question is, base in Sitges or Barcelona?
Car? Day trips? Quaint things to do? LOL

Good luck getting there. I just rerouted sister thru MAD (they're going to Basque region). Valencia starts next wk, tho. She'll rent car so I can get some info on that. Not sure if she'll make it ot BCN now. We had several dates and tons of HK's and active emps. Cruises still running Oct but maybe not so many nonrevs? I would get on tripadvisor and poke around for details, keeping in mind lots of Brits in there are not travelers they are vacationers--they go to Southern SPain for 2-4 wks cause it's warrm, sunny and cheap. (condo types) Not dissing but it's true so weigh some of the advice in that respect.

Condo types - ah oh, we’re suppose to stay in condos in Sitges *wink*. Haven’t lined up anything in Barcelona yet, I’m lending toward that, and I have lots of sway with this group. LAX/JFK/BCN - JFK/BCN has 2 flights a day codeshare with IB and BA, now that has me worried, already given my “you‘re D3’s and will probably end up in NYC for a night or two, or three.” There’s a couple of OA’s going too, so they might reroute through MAD, but for my rookie D3’s, it’s BCN or a few days visiting NYC and back home

Never been to Sitges myself but I have been in Barcelona and I absolutely loved it, great city with lots of things to do. Getting to BCN should not be too hard that time of year, the beach season by OCT is winding down and the heavy season starts dropping. If you head down that way make sure you learn some basic spanish words, or better yet that you pick up some catalan.

    Regards,

How good is your CATALAN? Remember this when visiting Barcelona.......the saying is this....."Barcelona és bona si la bossa sona"

In Spanish which is quite close, would be said the same as such......"Barcelona es buena si la bolsa suena".

Meaning. Barcelona is good if the purse/pocket book makes sound. BOLSA is a sack or bag, in this case, a ladies purse makes the sack. (Purse can be a CARTERA or BOLSA.) As like money rattling inside. Another words, Barcelona is good when you have enough dough with you.

I haven't been to Madrid or Barcelona, however, I was in the ANDALUSIA region of Spain, places like ROTA, CADIZ, JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA, PUERTO SANTA MARIA. This is the region that is supposedly the way most people think about Spain. The bullfighting, the heavy flamenco dancing, the sunny weather and religious processions. If you go to Spain, you definately wanna go here.
