    Default Prague

Sweet and short trip, 4 days in Prague and 1 day in Amsterdam, luckily all flights worked like a charm. Outbound we left on Tuesday (02/28/2012) to overnight in New York and spend the day in the city before our outbound flight on DL from JFK to Prague. On Thursday 02/29/2012 we were scheduled out on DL 210 from JFK to PRG, I must admit I was a bit nervous as FRA ground control was planning on striking in solidarity with the guys up at atc (or something along those lines). In the end all went well and all non-revs got on with plenty of room to spare (flight was about 60% full). Got exit row seats in the new economy comfort section (awesome legroom and plenty of space) making the flight extremely comfortable. While in the Czech Republic we did one of the free English walking tours that takes you around the sights in the new town, old town and Jewish quarter. We also toured the castle area and walked around there, great views of the city but I would not recommend paying for a tour-you can do the castle area on your own. We decided to do a day trip to Kotna Hora (not sure about the spelling), charming little Czech town an hour outside of Prague - recommended if you have extra time to spare. We stayed at the Marriot Executive Apartments in Prague which is in a great location and a great price (about $85.00 USD a night including breakfast) and a couple of blocks from Wenceslas Square. I found meal and ground transport very reasonable when compared to other countries in Europe. Fast forward to Sunday, that morning we did Vyserhad castle- nice area and not far from the city centre. That evening we were scheduled to fly from Prague to Amsterdam, we listed on the 5:10 PM flight on CSA (OK) and on the last flight of the evening on KLM. We were cleared on the 5:10 PM CSA (OK) flight over to AMS. I was very impressed with CSA, great little airline with great ground and in-flight personnel. We spent Monday in Amsterdam and had the entire day in the city- stayed at the Marriot Courtyard Schipol airport (far from the city centre). When compared to Prague, Amsterdam is expensive but it was the best location to fly out back to the states. Sadly Tuesday came and we had to return home and vacation was over. We had decided on AMS-PDX (flight 178) as Mrs767er had advised this flight was looking very good (PHL-PHX on US is always very tricky). The flight was wide open, to the point the holding area at Schipol was not even full and for those who have visited the airport know these gate holding areas are not big. We checked in with the gate agent and advised we were US Airways employees flying on a zed fare, tickets pulled and we were directed to wait for a couple of minutes along with the other 4 or so non-revs outside the security area. A couple of minutes later the gate agent comes over with the boarding passes for all non-revs. Surprisingly we were released in Business class, I was puzzled but we got onto Business Elite, having non-reved on DL numerous times I know they usually don't release OAL employees up front. I must say C had only about 10 people total including all non-revs so it was very light up front and in the back. This flight had one of the best in-flight crews I have ever flown with, exceptional service from the PDX/SEA base crews. Once in PDX we caught a US flight to PHX. That concludes my short trip over to Prague/Amsterdam. Special thanks t Migflanker with all updates on the situation in FRA, to Mrs767er for the DL load info, Jowdon for the LH load info and Long Haul for KL load info.

    Regards,

Sure packed alot into that short period! Glad you liked Prague, but I knew you would! We've never done Vysrehad castle but were in the area once. Guess that's a next trip option for us. I miss Prague. (and Budapest)

I’ll second that. Thanks for the update, but no mention of beer?

I loved Prague, would love to do it again and the weather was in full cooperation. Budapest is high on my wish list- I only hear good things about it. With Malev going under it might make it trickier to get there now. Mrs767er next time you get to Prague you must do Vyserad castle - you get some magnificient views of the river and the outskirts of Praha.
Unfortunately, no Pilsner Urquel or any other kind of beer this time around, however, our tour guide drank plenty of it for us (hehehe). We did alot, by the time we arrived into the US we were dead tired in addition to being jetlagged (still recuperating).
