Unfortunately my airline's (9E, Northwest Airlink, aka Pinnacle) website, publishes nothing about ZED. What I thought I knew I found out a few years ago on Air Alaska's website. But I've never had to test the "you should be able to use a ZED ticket on any route if it's fewer miles" rule. No doubt the rule shold also include "if it's in the same ZED pce bin (lo, med, hi)". Im afrad to test it for fear of being stuck somewhere. But I was REAL suprised yesterday when I called the DL non-rev listing place (800 789 8156) to list on a DL JFK-LYS flight and by the way asked if I could use my DL JFK-NCE (more miles) ZED ticket and was told NO. So I am needing to scramble to buy a JFK-LYS ticket, no easy feat becauce I have no NW ticket office near me. So maybe it's the DL reservation agnt who's in the dark, and the JFK DL ticket counter would be more forgiving, but again I'm not gonna risk it.
I'd love to hear of any realwrld experience where you have been able to use, or have been denied use of, a ZED ticket for a leg different from what's printed on the ticket. For diff't ZED price bins? For diff't airlines? for diff't departure and/or arrival cities ? Thanks.

"If your ZED ticket has the exact origin & destination, your ZED ticket does not require reissue in order to standby for another or the next flight. However, if your ticket requires origin and destination changes or rerouting, you must obtain a refund for the original ticket and purchase a new ticket at a Delta ticket counter."

I don't know why you'd get a zed from Delta in NY--wouldn't you have to get one from NW ticket agent at JFK? Just curious.
