PHX-CLT-LHR, then LOT(ZED) to WAW, or RyanAir(Positive space) to WAW

It's VERY rare that it's ever cheaper to fly on another airline instead of your own. I know you have to if your own airline doesn't fly to your final destination, but it's better to do that for the short-haul if you can.

I would imagine that FRA would be a better gateway to eastern Europe, and since US and LH are both star alliance, you've probably got a ZED low agreement with them. And Star Alliance tend to give each other better priority, too (I know that UA gives *A employees the same priority as UAX employees)

OK, this is random, but I am starting a plan to go to WAW myself in June. I am going from ATL, but was targeting cities in Europe with low cost airlines and buying a cheap ticket from there. Look at Wizzair, or AirBerlin and look for cities that you can get to from a US air flight, that will take the sting out of the departure fee cost from LHR. I am focused on Dusseldorf and then taking Wizz from there (it's a different airport, but close enough via a train). We are also going to Lodz and then coming home. Wizz had fares from 17Euro before the booking fees.

I have a whole list, but left it at home and will let you know the cities that I found low cost carriers that go to WAW.

Unfortunately I do not work directly for US Airways, my employer flys US Airways Express and United Express. I do get benefits on both, but cannot get a ZED on Lot and I do not see Ryanair on the list. Lokks like British Airways is what I have to do. Our agreement with Lufthansa is temporarily on hold, of course. Hey, still way cheaper than a regular flight. Coming home, I would like to fly out of RZE in Poland, so I have to llok into that still.

Hi everyone again. So turns out US Airways flies to Frankfurt too. What do you guys think of US Airways PHX - CLT - FRA then Air Berlin to WAW? It is cheaper than flying to London.

It would be cheaper than flying to London. Any thoughts on buying a ticket on a low cost carrier? RyanAir flies from Milan (you would need to switch airports), or from Brussels (again would need to switch). I bought tickets for 9 Euro on Ryanair (leaving Milan Bergamo to Lodz, and then Warsaw to Brussels). You have to be very careful with baggage weight, and realize that the 9 Euro charge is just the 'base charge'. You need to pay for your bag as well. Wizz Air also has lots of flights into Poland. I did not find any good deals into Poland from FRA.

    Good luck.

I just checked and Ryan Air does fly from FRA to WAW. Is it not a good idea to use a zed on Air Berlin then?

Keep in mind that those airport changes on RyanAir can often be pretty far-out. Here are the two airports RyanAir considers to be "Paris" with Paris itself in the middle: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=B...mra=ls&t=m&z=9

My choices for flying from Frankfurt to Warsaw are either on Air Berlin or Lufthansa. Can anyone let me know which is better?

LH flies non-stop whereas on AB you will have to connect in Berlin. For a relatively short flight compared to the transatlantic portion, I would go for the non-stop on LH unless loads are bad on the non-stop and better on the connection.
