Is it too early to check loads and how do I do that?

I generally start looking maybe 2 weeks in advance talking to reservations. They'll at least tell you if it's full, so you know which ones to forget about. But keep checking. A flight with seats 2 weeks in advance still has 2 weeks to fill up

And even then, you might have a chance. When I nonrevved on IB MAD-SVQ, they told me that the first flight was looking a bit full, but the next two were better. Well, I was in MAD anyway, so I had no reason not to try. Talked to their customer service desk while I was waiting, they said I had a decent chance. Got on that flight, no big deal.

According to wikipedia, LH mainline flies to FRA. They also have regional flights to MUC, DUS, and more to FRA.

Every commercial airport has a wikipedia page, which includes airlines and destinations served. For example, Warsaw Chopin Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ok, thanks. I was thinking it was something like from CLT to WAW. I wish!

Ok, I am back and need opinions! I am currently on the PHX-CLT-FRA flight on US Airways. I am looking at it more this morning and there is also a PHX-PHL-FRA that is way more open. There are more ways out to CLT from PHX, but the seats are more open. What would you guys do? I am starting to lean towards PHL.... Can you guys see what I have pasted here? I want to show what is open

Hey! I just sent a PM, but immediately after I put together what that's all supposed to mean. Helps that I used to have access to US' employee system when I worked for SkyWest, I guess.

Looking at these numbers, I definitely think PHL is a better gateway. Two reasons for that: First, those are awesome numbers if you're leaving soon (I forgot your dates, but if it's not for a while, there's still time for flights to fill up on any route). Second, if you leave PHX early enough, you can get an earlier flight to FRA. If you get to FRA earlier, you should clear customs sooner, get to the LH check in area sooner, and if you're lucky, get moved up to an earlier FRA-WAW flight (just ask nicely, they should do it). I think that flights out of the hub (obviously FRA is LH's hub) are more open at the beginning of the day, as a rule of thumb (less time for people to connect from other cities).

But most importantly, RELAX. It's a little different flying on a ZED, but just a little. Yes, your priority is lower and you may be holding a paper ticket. But that's really about it. Have you considered a RyanAir confirmed flight? Sometimes you can get them really cheap, you just have to change your European gateway. But if you know you can make that as far as time goes, you're in. Just make sure you're using the same airport in and out, and that you know all of their tricks to avoid fees (no bag checking, keep carry-ons within their limits (including weight) and check in online ahead of time (I think they allow it 2 weeks before departure). There may be others I don't know about. See Warsaw Chopin Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for possible cities, maybe BCN or DUB? Or I think US flies into MAN? Wizz Air could also be a possibility.

I am leaving June 26th, so pretty soon. I am going to switch to PHL. My gut says that is the way to go. I have not looked into the Ryan Air. It's getting a little close now, but after this non-reving adventure, I should feel more comfortable for the next one! I also am worry wart!

    Thanks so much!

Yeah, I saw that afterwards. One day after my birthday, aww. I'd agree, and I think you should be ok. I'd be more worried about a hub-to-hub like PHX-PHL than going over the ocean at this point.

Anyway, I think you could try LH res (maybe a separate post here) to get some preliminary loads. They may be vague, but it's nice to get an idea. Keep a notepad handy on the phone so you can write down everything and bring it to the airport and compare with future calls. And again, you might as well give it a try if you have time to try for a flight. Worst case you get pushed back to one you can get on.
