You will have to call for pick up. Also, for pick up, you will need to take the air train to the federal circle stop as the shuttles do not pick up in front of the terminal. The shuttle back to the airport runs every 30 min.

Ok, currently in discussion with my partner. We're going to go with B6 (2 flights with 20+ openseats and confirmed interline Bagage agreement with sn Brussels and e-tickets) . I want to take the early one in case a hiccup happens. My partner wants to take the 10am flight so the kids don't have to be to get up so early and we spent less time in jfk. Any advice (be it for me or against me) is welcomed.

Just made the listing. While everything was booked in 1 go, in the end (after paying) we received two PNR's :/ Guess we will have to collect our checked bagage at arrival (or would they honor it given the interline bagage agreement in place)? Also gave in to my partner and made the listing for the 2nd Jetblue flight at 9h45... fingers crossed...

Just got confirmation we'll have to pick up the checked Bagage (stroller, carseats , 1 big bag, 6 pieces of carry-on,...) And prolly 2 unwilling little girls (5&2).Is there a way to get to terminal 1 from terminal 5 with a cart carrying most stuff? I guess airtrain doesn't allow carts on it...

The airtrain is the way to go from T5 to T1 and yes, you are allowed to bring smart carts on the airtrain if you are traveling between terminals. For the car seat & stroller, if you can manage, I would try to gate check as opposed to checking them at the counter. The other option is to take a taxi but that will cost you and the driver will probably give you some NY attitude for such a short ride.

For the B6 flight, if you haven't already I would download the app and check in. You will be able to see where you are on the list and how many seats remain. Although I've never been, if you're not doing the hotel and have a long layover, you might want to check out the JetBlue airspace lounge. Your bags should be safe in the baggage office. Am not really familiar with the T1 lounges. I would imagine the kids would not have to pay. From their website:

"The new Airspace Lounge near Gate 24 is open to ALL on a pay-per-use basis. Airspace Lounge is designed specifically to meet the needs of the modern air traveler.Entry fees start at just $25 and no membership or long-term commitment is required. Entry includes complimentary espresso, cappuccino, Peet's Coffee and Tea, soft drinks, small snacks and fruit, printing and scanning, use of house computers, Wi-Fi, use of private restrooms and shower facilities, plus a $10 credit to purchase items from Airspace’s premium menu including alcoholic beverages."

    Good luck and safe travels!

Made it to jfk on jetblue, had to pay extra for overweight Bagage (was just short of 64lbs, only 50 allowed, even for sby). Had to pick up checked Bagage. In the end smooth transition to terminal 1. Very strange check-in but we were assured we should make it in C. Now the waiting game can begin again... Here's hoping...

The transition in JFK from Terminal 5 to Terminal 1 was very smooth, I haven't timed it, but I reckon from leaving the plane until reaching check-in, it was definitely less than 50 minutes. Recheck all baggage with Brussels Airlines and the waiting game for boarding passes started. Although at check-in they said we would be fine, the gate agent acted as if it was one big uncertainty and couldn't tell if we were going to make it. Luckily someone else stepped in, made her print out the boarding passes and we were on our way. Uneventful flight, not the best service but not the worst either. Upon arrival the car seat was there (luckily!) but no bag That moment my partner comments having had a dream where the bag was being lost, and the bag did stand out behind the check-in counter in JFK for a while. Having a hard time to remember if the agent had put the label on it, I do fear the worst. So, the waiting game is not over just yet...

Glad to hear you were able to make it in under an hour. There are times I've experienced 30+ minute waits just for baggage at JFK. Just curious how long the security line was at T1 during that time? Did you get seats in C?

Fingers crossed that your bag shows up.

Security line at T1 was about 20 minutes wait time but because of the big stroller, we were redirected to another lane which ran a bit quicker

We did get seats in C from JFK to BRU :-) And the bag has arrived in BRU the day after

    2. Do you prefer time in the air or time on the ground?
