The rest of the story

It seems Emirates opted out of the standard Airbus option (locating the pilot's rest quarters behind the flightdeck ".....because it would have compromised the desgn of the airline's upper deck first-class cabin."

Talk about your unforeseen consequences, now because the pilot's rest compartment is in the rear of the main deck, pax confuse the quarters for a lav.

"The alternate standard Airbus option of locating the pilot's compartment in the cargo hold was rejected as "claustrophobic". - On the other hand they could be in the hold.

Haha claustrophobic? FAs have been sleeping in containers in A340s for years...

The container also takes up valuable cargo space.... i read something the other day that from LAX-MEL on the A380 at full pax load it can only take ~400kg (~800lbs) of cargo!

Not that that route is flown by EK or SQ... but just thought i'd throw it out there
