Hey all, I've just got this SUPER idea to take NW to NRT on the days before, of and after Christmas...IF all looks good coming back by then (DL or NW if I have to) and I'm wondering something about the seating chart.

1. I think I am correct but want to know are rows 72-80 in the upper deck?

2. Again pretty sure but...are rows 1-4 on the lower deck right in the nose?

3. As of now (subject to change I know) the best flight is the 26th, Wide Open!! So would should it stay that way would I have a fair chance of sitting in the upper deck or in the nose area?

Thanks for all your help everyone.

I don't think NW upgrades Delta nonrevs--I think they pay extra for business class, not like our system? Jumper must know!
Why not take 777 thru ATL? OR is it an aircraft thing??
you crack me up!!
I would never trade biz for coach in any circumstance, but I'm a brat...(with no cush on my tush and 54 yr old abused racquetball knees)
You MUST be a young puppy? I remember when I used to get excited about that kinda thing....hahahaha--I'm not DEAD yet!

We pay through the nose for international travel, there's just no bones about that - (which is why I can't WAIT for the Delta model of non rev travel to be the norm).

For example - to fly from SEA to LHR in C on NW - 500$ - yep, 500$ - Coach is $350. I found that I could fly confirmed from LHR to DUB for 60$, then home on Delta for less than 30$.

You probably COULD get an upgrade, but you'll pay...

M767, I guessing CVG is an aircraft enthusiast; for him it's all about the aircraft. Now I'm on the other end of the spectrum, for me (and I'm guessing you) it's all about the "class". For "first", I'd gladly go a day early and rent a hotel room.
CVG you might want to put Seat Guru in your list of favorites. it's a great source for airplane seating.

TBM, you're in luck, quite a few forum members have visited Puerto Rico and as I recall, there is a trip report somewhere.
Try doing a search; type in the word "bacardi" that should bring up something. [/b]
Does that tell ANYTHING about this industry?? haha

Our travel is free in coach. The fees are for taxes and The UK is notoriously high.
For me to fly IND-DTW-LHR roundtrip in coach is $120 and in business it is about $415.
A trip to CDG would only cost me about $60 in coach and a trip to NRT is even less at about $36

Now, I look forward to the DL model also for the free upgrades and more destinations but I imagine they pay Intl. taxes on their flights too.

A while back, I was flying off line on NORTHWEST from DTW to NRT. I had coach seats for me and the wife. I remember chatting with the guy from NWA about working in Detroit in general and he asked me if I was flying to Japan. I mentioned that me and the wife were going to NRT, that I worked out on Saipan. He instantly upgraded me to buisness first just like that. I bet it wouldn't happen again in a hundred years but this guy hooked me up great. He must have just been in a great mood that morning, or just liked me for being conversationist, but kissing ass to get upgraded is not my thing or getting moved to buisness first was the furthest thing from my mind. It just happened. And I was very grateful for the 12 hour flight for me and my wife. Off line, this first class seat would have run me about some 400 bucks more or so and I wasn't going to do it. Since then, my airline aquired the triple seven so we just took those from NRT to IAH directly.
