I did a short GUA trip w/sister last year. Lake Atitlan is amazing. She tried to tandem paraglide over the lake but winds kept kicking up and "pilot" was worried. It's a pretty neat place. Tell more about Vietnam--there is some good info on VN trains at seat61.com (if you've never used it before--it's awesome!)

Happy (brrr) New Year everyone. I'm up in MSP right now, having a great time with 9E captain son & wife, & grandson. 8 below predicted tomorrow. Had a full-moon walk with the family in Ft. Snelling State Park yesterday (NY eve), all delightful.
Flying here, wifie got a seat up front, and me 5E bulkhead, greate comfort!
Anyway, will probably be in MSP the week before Easter, if this get-together is to happen.
Best to all!

I'd love to go to Thailand at some point, but the best place for this group to meet up would have to be Maho Beach. We could dry up the Sunset Beach Bar and maybe get a nonrev.net photo with a Corsair 744 hanging 30 feet over our heads.

Or maybe even a KLM MD11. Always loved tri-jets, now I get to play with them all the time!

Totally agree. I've needed an excuse to go there for years, and don't think i'll make it if I rely on my own volition

I've done trips like SAN-SFO-SYD-CNS/BNE and SAN-SFO-PVG/PEK and back in 3 days a bunch of times.

Craziest trips have been SAN-LAX-NRT-SIN-PEN or SAN-SFO-HKG-SGN. These would have been absolutely brutal if we weren't in first class.

How was the A380? I liked it on EK, but 15 hours in the middle seat of the last row was a little much.

The best part of being inside the A380 is that you can see that beautiful wing, and you can't see that hiddeous nose!!

A good friend of mine just worked one of our flights to Haiti. In 1 day he rode the airplane to 6 states and down to Haiti and back.

I liked it. Inside it just looks like any other jet though. Yes, it is an ugly nose!!

I was in row 19 on the lower deck, in the middle 4 seats but on the aisle.

The AF entertainment system was nice...
