There are buses to go to the closest cities in Paraguay or Brazil (if you are a Us citizen you need a visa) which are less than an hour away, did not have time to go.
Both Paraguay and Brazil require a visa. Some of the guidebooks and folks on tripadvisor state that if you get the right taxi driver, he/she can get you across the border without a visa or perhaps with a handshake (wink wink). Didn't chance it but enjoyed the Argentine side. Took the boat ride to the Brazilian side. Nonrevving on LAN went smoothly although we got the last seats on the flight back.
