Thread: Flying OMC with the new United

    Thanks everyone for the updates! I have been told by some I need to list and by others to do nothing different. One agent was telling me that it has been a difficult transistion for many to the new system. She was explaining that there is some confusion as Flight Attendants using reciprocal jumpseat must list, but not Pilots and Dispatchers. She also said that workload has gone way up. I can understand this, and that is why I take everything in stride. It is hard for gate agents as they are so busy now. In many cases single agent at the boarding gate, already overwhelmed and then having to deal with extra work! I really appreciate all of the work the gate agents do. They are front end ambassadors of all Airlines, and normally faced with difficult situations that I would never want to handle!

    Pilots and dispatchers are run through CASS at the gate, plus have to be on reciprocal lists to ride.

    It's really a mixed bag. Some things are easier, some things are harder. Some things have to be done in native SHARES, which is very tricky if you're not very good with computers (I am, and even I get thrown off sometimes). However, no matter what you think, you cannot disagree that for the United (not Continental) agents, it really is like having a brand new job, and all of your coworkers are in the same situation and may not be able to help much. Regardless, it'll get better before it gets worse!
