I can definitely see other airlines picking up on service from their own hubs. But not enough to fully bounce back. I guess I can see CLE trying to bring back hub service, but who would take it? It's really the regional flights that are going. Sure, Southwest or Frontier would have a great canvas to work with, but that regional concourse can't take those 737/A320s. The others, with regional service? Not seeing that happening anytime soon. AA and US are busy with their merger, DL already has CVG and DTW, and UA... well, that's obvious.

Crap, now I'm wishing I changed my vote.
Not sure what "vote" means but CVG and DTW have very little in common. MEM should have been dimmed a long time ago before they devastated CVG.

I'm talking about the poll on top of the thread. And my comparison with CVG and DTW wasn't really a comparison as much as it was an attempt to point out the geography. CLE is 220 miles to CVG, less than 100 to DTW. Yes, you can serve the markets that need a nonstop better, but so many flights these days have connections. In those cases, having another hub wouldn't be very helpful (and that's part of the reason MEM went under, surrounded by ATL and CVG post-merger)
