Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Flight crews that don't live in base get priority on the jumpseat, and still have the 4th cabin jumpseat as an option.
It's hard to say that SWA is simply a point-to-point anymore. BWI (178), PHX (177), LAS (204), and MDW (214) all have enough daily departures to be considered hubs (regardless whether we call them hubs or not). I know departures are not the only component in a "hub", but with 3500 flights per day, there's only so many point-to-point routes one can have before you end up having to funnel psgrs into main cities.
