Default How does DL buddy passes work?

I have a friend who flies for DL that has never used his buddy passes. He's willing to help me with some if I need it, but he had no idea how they worked. Can someone help with this? I know there are some Delta peeps here lol. PM me if you don't want to make the info public.

    Thanks!

Basically it's a yield fare ticket for standby. Your buddy has to pay $50 to activate 8 passes/yr. My family pays our fee. Passes are good for a year and are fully refundable. Price is based on distance, taxes/fees and now fuel surcharge. Best to sue for overseas travel. Buddies travel on emps seniority after all emps are boarded. If first or biz class are available, it should be automatic upgrade on our AC and some connection lines.
Example of recent ticketing I did a few minutes ago:
MCO/BKK via JFK and NRT with return to DAB was just under a grand for RT. $25 fee for changes to destination beyond 100 miles (NY airports are all one destination, DAB was our original start but no fee to use MCO in this case. SFO/BKK and return was $850. Those $ include the fuel surcharge of $100RT.
Your emp can do all the pass assignments online, then ticket as needed throughout his employment yr. Happy to do more details after you set it up w/him, but he'll have to do some of the checking--I'm exhausted after today!!!

Thanks soooo much! I'll have him get cracking. It won't be for a while till I'm ready to use them though. Are the DTW-HKG flights usually packed?

At Delta the buddies ALWAYS travel as S4's..... Behind Active, retired, parents, other airlines. I agree that a buddy should never have a higher priority than an active employee. At NWA and now Delta the spouse and dependent children have always traveled with the employees seniority date even when traveling without them. One travel rule that NWA had was the a manager, their spouse and kids always flew with a higher priority than the employees. Even vacation passes were lower priority than managers everyday travel. When is comes to pass travel at Delta, mangers and employees are treated the same.

We got rid of our managers flying at higher priority, but given that, it was better than what I see happening now. I just disagree with unacompanied spouses or eligible pass riders bumping active employees that must get back to work to make the operation happen. A guy gets married suddenly the spouse whom never touched an airplane nor travelled free before suddenly bumps an active employee just because her new husband has more time than they? Most absurd thing I ever heard of.

Then employee children should have no rights either, following that logic. They never flew on pass privs before they were born. He earned the pass priv and by marriage, she has same rights. I ahve left the gate and gone home when I was taking a frivolous trip (more than once) since there were lots of uniformed employee trying to commute w/few seats. I will not relinquish my seat for our vacation travel, however, and will certainly use my high priority (S2) when I need it. I get 6 /yr. My husband commutes and he's typically goes in very early, double commutes or overnight to make a work trip. That's his responsibility, not another employee spouse's. If a spouse is required to be accompanied by employee then that's TWO seats taken, possible denying 2 commuters or 2 someones having to get back to work (from their personal trip?) Hogwash. Not logical at all.

Pilots and F/A are the only employees that have to fly, the rest of us do it for fun. It is the employees responsibility at ANY job to get to work on time, not the employer. Have you discussed this with fellow employees? I would be shocked if you were not in the minority on your views about spouse & children traveling without the employee.

Wow again! IF you were to ever have someone in your life and procreate, would you feel the same way?

I see alot of Positive Space Upgrades for non-cabin employees and that's the way it should be. If it's policy for them to be upgraded to make a ferry or mechanical trip, they should have that perk, and they outrank me. No problem. My husband earned his 25 yrs and I take care of him, much like you and others maintain the aircraft. Both are vital, and I am, too. So, your wife is below you? You can disagree w/me all you want. If I could bump you off a flight, I almost wish I could do it just because you're such a entitled bully. I'm sure some pimple-faced, snot-nosed teen will do exactly that unwittingly. Karma. Your nonrev world must be a pretty ugly place considering your bigoted attitude.

And then we will see a Youtube video of 29palms have a meltdown like that AA flight attendant the other day!
